Anthony Wise Jr.<\/strong>, right, congratulates Chief Executive Officer <strong>David Reynolds<\/strong> of Home Federal Bank on the 2022 TBR Chancellor\u2019s Award for Excellence in Philanthropy.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Home Federal Bank&#8217;s longtime support of Pellissippi State Community College has earned the Knoxville-based bank the 2022 TBR Chancellor\u2019s Award for Excellence in Philanthropy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The award, announced March 30 in Nashville, recognizes individuals and organizations that have given special assistance to at least one Tennessee Board of Regents institution. TBR governs the state\u2019s 13 community colleges and 27 technical colleges.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pellissippi State President<strong> L. Anthony Wise Jr.<\/strong> nominated Home Federal Bank for the award, citing its rich history of outstanding community service and exceptional integrity. The college has received more than $114,000 from Home Federal Bank since 1986, he noted.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHome Federal Bank has been a key partner in growth,\u201d he said. \u201cPellissippi Sate has depended on their support to jumpstart new initiatives. In fact, Home Federal Bank was one of the first businesses in our community to establish an endowed scholarship through the Scholars Today and Tomorrow program, and that scholarship has provided awards to students for 28 years.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other significant contributions from Home Federal Bank over the years have helped Pellissippi State:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Renovate a historic high school in an urban setting into the college\u2019s Magnolia Avenue Campus;\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Establish the Nursing program; and\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Build the Bill Haslam Center for Math and Science on the Hardin Valley Campus.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHome Federal Bank\u2019s generous support has served as a driving force for innovation,\u201d Wise said. \u201cIn addition to their philanthropy, volunteers from Home Federal Bank also have served for many years on the Pellissippi State Foundation\u2019s Board of Trustees.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEducation and career preparedness are essential to a vibrant, healthy community and economy,\u201d said Home Federal Bank Chief Executive Officer <strong>David Reynolds<\/strong>. \u201cInvesting in education is not just the right move, but it is also smart economics.
