{"id":566,"date":"2024-12-17T19:49:08","date_gmt":"2024-12-17T19:49:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/policies.pstcc.edu\/?page_id=566"},"modified":"2025-01-06T00:35:51","modified_gmt":"2025-01-06T00:35:51","slug":"policy-061800","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/policies.pstcc.edu\/?page_id=566","title":{"rendered":"POLICY 06:18:00"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>OVERTIME AND COMPENSATORY TIME<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Purpose<br>The purpose of this policy is to establish rules and guidance for the earning and use of compensatory time\/overtime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Definitions<br>Overtime: Any work hours in excess of 37.5 hours per week for full-time employees and any work hours in excess of the number of hours per week approved in the official employment contract for part-time employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Policy: In accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Pellissippi State, at its discretion either by wage payment or compensatory time off (time off instead of overtime pay), compensates employees who are requested to work more than a standard workweek (37.5 hours). The following guidelines apply:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Compensatory time and overtime payments are available to non-exempt employees only.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Working more than the 37.5 hour work week, and subsequently earning compensatory time must be approved in advance by the supervisor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pellissippi State will permit the use of compensatory time off within a reasonable period of time, unless the use at the requested time would unduly disrupt college operations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All accumulated compensatory time must be taken within the pay period immediately following the accrual unless prior approval has been granted by the president.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An employee may accrue no more than 240 hours of compensatory time in a given year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In all cases, compensatory time must be taken within the fiscal year (July 1 \u2013 June 30) so that the balance as of each June 30 is 0.00.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Regular hours worked must be documented on the leave report and any overage hours reported on the Comp Earned Form to substantiate compensatory time earned.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supervisors must monitor compensatory time earned and approve the Comp Time Earned Form.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Please refer to Tennessee Board of Regents Guideline P-020<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Source: TBR Guideline No. P-020<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Approved: Executive Council, March 4, 1991<br>Editorial Changes, May 6, 1993<br>Executive Council, June 30, 1994<br>Approved: President Allen G.
