{"id":47,"date":"2024-12-03T20:59:17","date_gmt":"2024-12-03T20:59:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/policies.pstcc.edu\/?page_id=47"},"modified":"2025-06-08T21:45:33","modified_gmt":"2025-06-08T21:45:33","slug":"policy-030103","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/policies.pstcc.edu\/?page_id=47","title":{"rendered":"POLICY 03:01:03"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">POSTHUMOUS DEGREES<\/h1>\n\n\n<p>This policy is consistent with Tennessee Board of Regents Policy No. 2:01:00:02<\/p>\n<p>Purpose<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of this policy is to establish procedures for awarding an academic credential posthumously.<\/p>\n<p>Policy\/Guideline<\/p>\n<ol type=\"A\">\n<li>Posthumous Degrees &#8211; In the unfortunate event of a student&#8217;s death during an academic term in which it may reasonably be assumed that he or she would have completed all academic credential requirements, an academic credential may be awarded posthumously to the student.<\/li>\n<li>Recommendations to the president for awarding an academic credential posthumously should be in accordance with the established institutional process for conferral of academic credential.<\/li>\n<li>The decision as to the likelihood that the student would have completed their work during the term shall be at the discretion of the president.<\/li>\n<li>The special nature of the award should be reflected on all pertinent records.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Sources: TBR Policy 2:01:00:02; T.C.A \u00a7 49-8-203<\/p>\n<p>Approved by TBR: March 18, 1982<br \/>Revised by TBR: March 21, 2019<br \/>Review\/Recommended: College Council, June 2, 2025<br \/>Approved: President L.
