Pellissippi State Libraries Policies

The mission of Pellissippi State Libraries is to provide an excellent collection of information resources to meet the curricular, research, and enrichment needs of our current students, faculty, and staff (i.e., affiliates); Pellissippi State Libraries teaches information literacy skills in individual and group settings, thereby empowering our students to become successful, lifelong learners and informed citizens of their community; creates learning spaces that promote individual and collaborative work; and continues research and investment in technological innovations for expanded access to resources to all campuses and online users in support of the college’s diverse curriculum. Additionally, the program provides resources and services relevant to the growth and cultural development of the Pellissippi State community, including non-affiliated community members.

Libraries located at the Blount County, Hardin Valley, Magnolia Avenue, and Strawberry Plains campuses provide collections, services, and learning spaces to all campus visitors. A significant portion of the Libraries’ collections are digital and can be accessed by Pellissippi State affiliates both on- and off-campus. Library privileges are contingent upon adherence to the Libraries’ policies. Non-affiliated community members have limited access to resources and services. The Hardin Valley Campus Library contains most of the physical materials. Except for reserve materials, Libraries’ collections can be shared via intercampus loan. Agreements with non-affiliated libraries provide additional resources.
