SENIOR CITIZEN / PERSON WITH DISABILITY CHARGES

This policy is consistent with TBR policy 04.01.03.00 Fees, Charges, Refunds and Payments Section II.C.3a.

Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to establish fee structure per Tennessee Code Annotated (T.C.A.) 49-7-113, as amended which provides special legislation for persons with disabilities and for individuals 60 years of age or older and 65 years of age or older.
Policy/Guideline

  1. Audit Course
    1. Persons with disabilities as defined by the above referenced legislation, persons 60 years of age or older, as well as state service retirees who have retired from state service with 30 or more years of service regardless of age who are domiciled in Tennessee are eligible to enroll in courses for audit with no tuition or mandatory fee required. All applicable non-mandatory fees are charged.
  2. Credit Courses
    1. Persons with disabilities as defined by the above referenced legislation and persons who will become 65 years of age or older during the academic semester in which they begin classes and who are domiciled in Tennessee are eligible to enroll in courses for credit with a fee of $70.00 per semester. All applicable non-mandatory fees will be charged.
  3. Nonredit Courses
    1. Permanent disability and senior citizen discounts do not apply to Continuing Education Programs.
